Pastor's NotesSummer 2010 Beloved of Jerusalem-Mt. Pleasant, What an exciting time to be your pastor. We have just celebrated a magnificent homecoming. Rev. Tony Love reminded us that “We are in a season of unusual favor, and we need to not only thank God for what we have but to defy the odds and do the remarkable. God is up to something new.” It was around 1858 when the Church was built and both Whites and African-Americans made up the membership of the then Rockville Methodist Episcopal congregation. The cornerstone is inscribed with 1892 when the new Church was dedicated. In 1912 the Rockville School for Colored Children was destroyed by fire and the children attended daily classes at the Jerusalem Methodist Church. In the early 1940’s there was a day care and nursery. I remind us of our rich heritage in order for us to move forward in hope of “doing a new thing for God.” I am asking this Congregation to fast every Wednesday until September 7 between 9:00 a.m. and Noon in order to discern God’s vision for us. The Scriptures that we are studying are Habakkuk 2:1-3, Psalm 90:17 and Ephesians 3:14-20. We want to be faithful to the character of this Church, “Enter to worship and depart to serve.” The faithfulness of God, the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit will enable us to do the remarkable.
Rev. Jane E. Wood Office Hours: MISSION STATEMENT Our mission, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is to develop ourselves and others spiritually through Biblical studies and worship, and to extend the unconditional love of Jesus Christ to all. John 10:9 "I am the door: whoever enters by me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture."
